I held the roses in my right hand, and the sheet of paper in my left. I stood in front of her door, ready to confess to her. I admit that I was likely to get turned down, but I held my hopes high. I took a deep breath before pushing the smooth doorbell, but my finger hesitated before moving forward to ring it. “How are you sure she won’t deny you?”  The voice spoke inside my head. “I’m not.” I replied firmly. “Why are you risking your heart on her then?” It said, as if mocking me. “Because I love her, that’s why, so shut up and let me do this.” I stated, my voice cracking, almost rising. I then forced myself to ring the doorbell. The woman of my affection opened the door. “Oh, hi Justin.” She said. I blushed, feeling increasingly nervous. “E-Ellie. We’ve known each other for s-so long now… A-and I just wanted to ask you…. I-if…. If you love me as much as I love you…. W-will you be… my g-girlfriend?” I stuttered and shook throughout the sentence. Ellie stared me over for a few minutes, my worry increasing with each second, fearing that she’d reject me. “I-if you deny me… I-I under-“ She cut me off. She then wrapped her arms around my shaking body, her lips passionately meeting my own as she showed me how she felt. I could feel her love, her agreement rushing through me. She let me go. We stared at each other for a few seconds afterward. “S-so that’s a y-yes then?” I asked, overwhelmed with shock. “Of course it is!” She yelled merrily. I handed her the roses, along with the paper, on which was a poem. She read the poem, and smiled. She looked at me lovingly. And that was how our relationship began. Or at least, how I had imagined it. What did in fact happen is something I’d rather not speak about. But I will write it down. It started off the same way, coming to the door, ringing the doorbell, the voice in my head, she opened the door. But after that, it was different. So different and so wrong. “J-Justin, what are you doing here?” She asked.  “Ellie I-“ She cut me off. “Justin, you can’t be here.” She said, worry in her voice. “Wh-why not?” I asked. “They’ll see you! You know they don’t want you here!” She was right. A monster such as I could not be seen in this realm. But I refused to believe that. “And why should it matter?! It’s none of their business that I’m here!” “Justin, you’re dangerous and they know just as well as you or I!” I felt fire burning the roses, which I had gotten for her, the paper catching flame along with it as anger controlled my abilities. “Justin please, you need to calm down!” She begged me. The other villagers noticed me, and immediately a force of guards surrounded me. One shouted for me to stop the flames, which had now spread to catch fire to the steps of Ellie’s house. I could not control them. I screamed in fury, only wanting to be with the one I loved so dearly. The flames raged higher, and Ellie was getting badly burnt, trapped in the burning home. She screamed, begging desperately for me to calm down. A guard shot me with an ice needle, which grew, beginning to painfully freeze me in the crystalized water. I screeched in agony, as hopelessness overcame me.
